The theme for June is consistency. I need to ensure that I’m writing and building and that I don’t let myself get distracted. The fact that this post is only just appearing on the 14th is a bad sign. I started this on June 1st and two weeks of chaos in other projects had made that preferred timeline unviable. But it is has allowed me to refocus on the question of time and how it is being used.
The old line of “you get what you pay for” is becoming more apparent in the AI coding space.
I’m circling back to this post because it was half written in June 2025 and the difference in quality in all of these models would barely be in the same universe. I’ve tested out a dozen different coding systems and when this was first partially attempted, you wouldn’t have imagined that the USG would block the release of a model because of serious national security concerns. Opus 4.8 published the last version of a recent site and o3 is so out of date that no one will even remember it. I had forgotten about it until I started this post.
It’s a hell of a time to be alive.
