The Long Road asks a deceptively simple question: who makes it to the NHL, and how did they get there?
The living archive now follows 151,078 player identities across 39 North American and European leagues and 767 league seasons, with 430,699 player-team observations connected to verified NHL outcomes.
The differentiator is denominator discipline. Historical competition names, franchise aliases, and player identities are mapped from official sources, but a league-season conversion rate is withheld whenever a complete participant table cannot be proven. The archive currently preserves 1,811 sources and 133 explicit review queues with zero critical integrity findings.
The next phase is to close the remaining official-data gaps back to 1989–90, deepen identity resolution across predecessor competitions, and turn the verified archive into better pathway comparisons and profiles of players who fought through the minors to reach the NHL.
